The First annual  reception for the George Webster Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Clara Bell Smith Center.

Fellow Spartans,

Since you are a key member of the Spartan Nation, the MSU Football Players Association and the Downtown Coaches Club cordially invite you to attend the first annual fund raiser reception for the George Webster Memorial Scholarship Fund, Thursday, Sept. 4, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Clara Bell Smith Center.

We hope you will join us as we congratulate and celebrate the first four graduating participants of the George Webster Scholarship Fund who will be at the reception.  This year's graduates are Demitry Bernard, Little John Flowers, Craig Jarrett, and Jason Randall, all former Spartan football players.

Guest speakers include the Spartan Radio Broadcast team of George Blaha, a new inductee to the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, and Jim Miller, who was a stand out MSU and NFL quarterback, and Former Athletic Director, Clarence Underwood.  Spartan Head Football Coach Mark Dantonio also will make an appearance following practice.

Please help former athletes continue to receive scholarships through the George Webster’s Memorial Scholarship Fund by making a contribution to the Spartan Fund (formerly Ralph Young Fund) designated for the George Webster Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Downtown Coaches Club, P.O. Box 4765 East Lansing, MI 48823.

The $10 admission fee includes light appetizers served by Troppo Catering.  Please make reservations early and no later than September 2, by calling 517-483-7243. Space is limited.

I look forward to seeing many of you at this special event in memory of a special Spartan.  Please pass this invitation along to other friends of the Spartan Program.

We Are Spartans!!

About Us

The MSU Football Players Association (MSUFPA) is an organization that was formed in midyear 2004 and was given its birth by Head Coach John L. Smith. It wasn’t until the beginning of 2005 that the association got functioning, but when it did a strong force was created within the family of Spartans and a tradition had begun. The purpose of the Association is to perpetuate the Spartan football tradition and to enhance the success of the MSU football program. Our goal is to sustain a working relationship and to provide a network of communication to link the membership with the existing football program.
